Tech Tidbits, vol. 1 - Introduction to Tech Tidbits
This is the first in a series of e-newsletters to be published, with a target frequency of nominally one per month. (Note that I am targeting a monthly transmittal but as you know when we in the oilfield get very busy, things get put to "back burner.") These publications will disseminate technical information that you can use in your day-to-day business.
If you are planning on attending the IADC/SPE Drilling Conference, February 26 - 28 in Dallas, Texas, please join us for one or all three of the sessions in which WEST will be presenting papers. The abstract for each of the following papers may be found on our website (www.westengineer.com):
- Using Predictive Testing to Circumvent Blowout Prevention Equipment Downtime
- Avoiding Catastrophes in Dynamic Positioning: Integrating Key Parameters Using a Systems Approach
- Deepwater BOP Subsea Hydraulic Accumulator Energy Availability: How to Ensure You Have What You Need
In recognition of the reliance on engineering in our business, WEST Hou, Inc. has changed the company name to WEST Engineering Services. Currently, the company employs three licensed professional engineers and three additional university degreed engineers. The combined experience of these individuals greatly expands the engineering capabilities of WEST Engineering Services.
If you do not wish to be included in this distribution of drilling technical information, please respond to un-subscribe.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact any member of the WEST Engineering Services technical team. We look forward to continuing to provide you cutting edge engineering, consulting, and rig survey capabilities for your drilling activities.
WEST pioneered the business of 3rd-party assessments of well control equipment and is still the preeminent leader in this field, with thousands of BOP/well control surveys. WEST is also an industry leader in survey assessments of drilling systems on rigs of all kinds, from ultra-deepwater to land rigs. These assessments cover a wide range of equipment and activities, such as:
Nothing is more frustrating than having new equipment and then finding that it does not work as you envisioned. Highly experienced WEST personnel will oversee, commission and accept new construction. When needed, WEST's engineering expertise may be called upon. Project management services are also available. Working with manufacturers, integrators and shipyards, these WEST personnel ensure that the equipment is fit for your purpose.
