Subsea Drill Through Equipment
Description
This five-day seminar will assist rig and office staff working with drilling operations in understanding drill through equipment installed on rigs utilizing subsea stacks, both from a theoretical as well as a practical perspective. Basic engineering, design, operation and maintenance principles will be reviewed and illustrated. Hydraulic-piloted control systems are thoroughly explained, and the basics of multiplex control systems are discussed. This information has been proven over the past quarter century to be invaluable to both the man on the rig and the manager who wants an understanding of well control equipment used by his staff. The materials in this seminar are similar to that in WEST's Surface Well Control Equipment offering, but expanded to include all equipment and systems used in well control applications with subsea stacks.
Learning Objective
The attendee will learn about the equipment and systems that provide well control safety on floating drilling rigs. All major manufacturers are discussed. The focus is on practical information that can be put to immediate use, directly benefiting your drilling operation with lower downtime and increased reliability.
Based on the knowledge gained from over 2,000 rig surveys, this seminar looks at each piece of equipment and discusses:- How it works - using cross sections and animation as appropriate.
- Proper inspections - what to look for, what doesn't work and how to fix it.
- Unexpected failures and lessons learned.
Specific equipment failures are discussed and solutions provided. It is less expensive to learn from the experiences of others.
Who Should Attend
Individuals working in the drilling industry who are or will be involved with floating drilling operations and equipment as a user, a manager or as a member of a regulatory body. This seminar has been called the best introduction of well control equipment available for people working on floating drilling rigs with subsea stacks.
Provider/Delivery Method
Led by subject matter experts. Classroom delivery using PowerPoint presentations, animations and video.

•In-house and custom seminars are also available.
WEST pioneered the business of 3rd-party assessments of well control equipment and is still the preeminent leader in this field, with thousands of BOP/well control surveys. WEST is also an industry leader in survey assessments of drilling systems on rigs of all kinds, from ultra-deepwater to land rigs. These assessments cover a wide range of equipment and activities, such as:
Nothing is more frustrating than having new equipment and then finding that it does not work as you envisioned. Highly experienced WEST personnel will oversee, commission and accept new construction. When needed, WEST's engineering expertise may be called upon. Project management services are also available. Working with manufacturers, integrators and shipyards, these WEST personnel ensure that the equipment is fit for your purpose.
